Ebony Russell is an Australian artist. She received her Masters of Fine Arts (Ceramics) from the National Art School, Sydney and is now a sessional lecturer in the Ceramics Department. Establishing a reputation as one of the new generations of experimental ceramicists pushing the boundaries of the medium further into the realm of contemporary art, Russell is well known for her decadent, ostentatious and overtly feminine ceramic creations. Executed in a sugary sweet palette, her practice draws on the familiar lexicon of romanticised and kitsch decorative ornaments, imbuing them with a nostalgia which harks back to childhood and a girlish longing for more, more, more. Piped Dream Studio is home to Ebony’s functional art objects featuring a selection of decadent and joyfully ostentatious candelabras, candlesticks, vases and wearable art.
