About the Artist:
Illustrator and designer Michael Chick (1989-2021, Sydney Australia) graduated from Enmore Design College. Michael had a particular interest in digital design and traditional mediums, incorporating learnt graphic sensibilities into his artistic and illustration practice, and the curiosity of hand-drawn illustration into his design work. He was drawn to quiet and soft atmospheres, folklore, earthy colours and tones, and the contrast of fragile yet strong environments. His work likewise welcomes the viewer by evoking a sentiment of calm and quiet, emphasising composition and colour. Michael found inspiration in moments from his daily life; shadows cast through the house by the morning sun, the meditation of his daily rituals like making a pot of tea, bike riding, watering his plants and the way colour and light changes with the seasons.
