KIBLIND Atelier - Miyazaki/Ponyo - Gaelle Loth
$60.00 AUD
When the name of the iconic Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli) is mentioned, it's not just one but a thousand images that surround our imagination. And, 45 years after the release of his first feature film, these references that were once his can now be shared.
KIBLIND Atelier presents today 10 riso printed posters inspired by his most iconic films, trusted to 10 contemporary Lyon-based illustrators. More than a literal translation of a film, each of the creations is an interpretation by the artist to whom the original work is entrusted.
Gaëlle Loth's works don't use tinted glass. They are straightforward, taking the most direct route between their creator's innermost feelings and our own. The brain commands the hands, which carry out their work in a language that is far more direct than any written or spoken vocabulary. There's something at once primal and eminently inexplicable about the Lyonnaise's work, in the impression it makes on the viewer. Emotions are there, naked, for all to see. Pastel colours nuance the shimmering, abstraction takes over from the figurative and expressionism battles with the unspoken as if to represent the full palette of feelings and the complexity of the human soul. And then, through these few strokes, the obvious becomes clear.
