About the artist:
Maria Medem’s art carries a quiet calm, the kind that invites you in and makes you want to stay a while. With just a few thoughtful lines and a striking sense of colour, the Spanish illustrator creates entire worlds that feel both otherworldly and strangely familiar.
Her style is all about simplicity, but never empty. She works with a light touch, using space, contrast, and bold, unexpected palettes to tell stories that linger. Her characters often feel like they’re floating between memory and dream, searching for something lost in time.
Maria’s work has appeared in some of the world’s most respected indie comics and art mags, including Cold Cube and Now (Fantagraphics). In France, her graphic novels Echoes, Cedars, Zenith, and Because of a Flower have found a devoted following.
