Mihan Aromatics™ emerged not from a laboratory, but from lived experience in London, where partners Julia Brown and Joshua Mihan blended two distinct worlds, neuroscience and barbering, into one unified vision.
Julia, with a background in neurophysiotherapy, experienced firsthand the extraordinary power of scent while working at a private neurorehabilitation hospital in London. Collaborating with fellow healthcare professionals, to expose everday aroma to patients recovering from brain injuries to help trigger memories, stir emotions, and promote alertness. This clinical experience deepened her understanding of the profound connection between the olfactory system and the limbic cortex, the emotional centre of the brain.
Josh honed his craft at one of London’s most esteemed barbershops. Immersed daily in grooming rituals and the world of fragrance, he gained deep insights into the scents that resonate emotionally with individuals, elevating routine services into personal, sensory experiences.
Together, Julia and Josh envisioned a perfume house that would blend neuroscience, beauty, and design into fragrances that are inclusive, contemporary, and distinctly Australian. This shared passion became Mihan Aromatics™, an olfactory narrative capturing moments, places, and memories.
