Full-Time Retail Sales Assistant (Tuesday - Saturday)
Pinky's is on the hunt for a superstar Full-Time Retail Sales Assistant to join our colourful Preston store.
We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking person who loves great design, genuinely enjoys helping people, and thrives in a busy retail environment. This role works closely with our Store Manager, supporting the day-to-day running of the shop and helping to create an exceptional experience for every customer who walks through our doors.
Who we are
You know that warm, fizzy feeling you get when things are exciting and a little overwhelming in the best possible way? That's what it's like to visit Pinky's.
Our happy little gift shop in Preston is a haven for colour, creativity and community. We love discovering beautiful products from Australian and international designers and curating a store full of things you won't find just anywhere. We only stock products we genuinely love, and nothing makes us happier than helping customers discover something special.
Pinky's was founded by stylist Beckie Littler and designer Emily Green in 2018. After meeting at playgroup when our daughters were toddlers, we took a leap of faith and opened our dream shop together. Eight years later, our Pinky's family has grown to a team of 14 amazing people - and we're excited to welcome our next team member.
Who you are
You're confident, positive and self-motivated. You love connecting with customers, but you're equally happy rolling up your sleeves and getting through the many behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the store running smoothly.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You'll be supporting the Store Manager across all aspects of the business, from customer service and merchandising to stock management and online orders.
Retail experience is essential, and while experience with Shopify or Vend (Lightspeed) is a bonus, we're happy to teach you our systems.
A strong work ethic, attention to detail and a genuine interest in art, design and the brands we stock will set you apart.
The role
This is a full-time position working Tuesday through Saturday.
Please note that November, December and January are our busiest trading months. As a retail business, we are unable to approve annual leave during this period, so applicants must be available to work throughout these months.
This role also involves regular manual handling, including unpacking deliveries, moving stock, replenishing shelves and lifting boxes, so you should be comfortable with physical work.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming in-store experience.
- Support the Store Manager with the daily operation of the store.
- Process sales accurately and efficiently.
- Receive, unpack and merchandise deliveries.
- Replenish stock and maintain visual merchandising standards.
- Pick, pack and dispatch online orders.
- Maintain a clean, organised and well-presented store.
- Assist with stock management and inventory.
- Resolve customer enquiries with professionalism and care.
- Work collaboratively with the team to achieve store goals.
What we're looking for
- A minimum of two years' retail experience is essential. Please do not apply if you do not meet this requirement.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable with manual lifting and physical tasks.
- Flexible and reliable, with availability to work every Tuesday-Saturday and throughout our peak trading period.
If you love beautiful products, enjoy working hard, and want to be part of a creative, supportive and genuinely fun team, we'd love to hear from you.
Please note that this role is paid at the General Retail Industry Award rate, plus any applicable penalty rates and entitlements.
